The Owens Art Gallery is located on the campus of Mount Allison University. It is Canada’s oldest university art gallery and the custodian of an important collection of about 4000 works spanning the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries. Parking
New Visitor Parking Information
If you are driving to visit the Owens, please note that Mount Allison will introduce paid parking on campus beginning March 2, 2026, including for visitors. Parking is still free on evenings and weekends, and throughout the summer!
Free, timed street parking is available throughout Sackville, but this could mean a longer walk to the gallery.
When Parking is Free:
- Weekends: Weekend parking on campus is free and does not require a permit.
- Evenings (September–April, after 6:00 pm): Evening parking on campus is free and does not require a permit after 6:00 pm.
- Summer: All day, from May 1 to the first day of classes in the fall term
When Parking is Paid:
- Weekdays (September–April, 6:00 am–6:00 pm)
- A parking permit is required during weekdays, throughout the academic year (September–April) from 6:00 am–6:00 pm.
- An hourly permits cost $2 per hour.
- A daily permit costs $10 per day.

Group Visits
We welcome group visits. Get in touch to plan your group’s visit by contacting Lucy MacDonald, Curator of Education and Community Outreach at [email protected].
Our education and outreach programs provide opportunities for community and school groups to encounter significant contemporary and historical visual art. We work with educators in multiple ways: through in-person and virtual tours, multisession collaborations, outdoor explorations, and artist projects.
Private Visits
If you would like to visit the Owens at a quieter time, or when all staff and visitors are masked, private visits can be arranged from 9:00-10:00 am on weekdays. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Photography Policy
Photography in the gallery is permitted for personal, non-commercial use unless otherwise stated. No flash or tripods are permitted.
