Workshops with artists Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky

Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky (wepplermahovsky.com) will be visiting Sackville for a special series of school and community workshops towards the creation of a new video work that will be presented at the Owens in January 2024.

Register to participate in kids’ and adult workshops and explore the sound and shape of water (details below). Workshop space is limited.

Workshops will also be taking place at Marshview Middle School in Sackville.

This project is made possible with the support of the Marjorie Young Bell Fine Arts and Music Awards and the New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture.

About the Artists

Rhonda Weppler (born in Winnipeg) and Trevor Mahovsky (born in Calgary) are New York- and Toronto-based artists, respectively, who have worked collaboratively since 2004. Both artists have MFA degrees from the University of British Columbia, where they met in 1996.

They have exhibited in galleries and museums internationally, including the National Gallery of Canada, Vancouver Art Gallery, LABoral in Gijon, Dos de Mayo in Madrid, the Power Plant in Toronto, Musée d’art contemporain in Montreal, Tokyo Wonder Site, and loop-raum in Berlin.

Weppler’s work has also been exhibited at the Palazzo delle Papesse in Sienna and COCA in Seattle. Mahovsky’s work has been shown at the Queens Museum of Art in New York, and he has written for catalogues and journals such as Artforum and Canadian Art.

Their work is represented in public collections, including the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the National Gallery of Canada. They are represented by Susan Hobbs Gallery in Toronto.
