This publication coincides with the exhibition Robert Tombs: The History of Photography held at the Owens Art Gallery from 28 March to 28 April 1991.

Robert Tombs creates a dialogue between photographs of the past and present by borrowing images that are highly reproduced and recreating them as “an alternate history that ‘depicts’ history.”
