This publication coincided with the exhibition Rita McKeough: Outskirts held at the Owens Art Gallery from 19 October to the 9 November 2003.

This exhibition featured a new, multimedia installation/ performance work by Halifax artist Rita McKeough, developed for the Owens Art Gallery. The exhibition examined the relationships that are established at the border between rural and urban districts, through the representation of metaphorical scenes that enact the abrasions, collisions and distortions that occur at these intersections. The audiences of Outskirts interacted with the installation space and also with the artist performing in the Gallery every day of the installation. Organized by the Owens Art Gallery with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
