Project Colville

A Teen’s Guide to Alex Colville in Sackville

A group of children and an adult gather on a street corner to draw using clipboards. They look at their surroundings through square viewfinders cut from card.

Project Colville is the result of a collaboration between the Owens Art Gallery and Mrs. Lafford’s grade seven class at Marshview Middle School. During this project students explored the work of Alex Colville and his connections to Sackville through sessions that took place at the Owens Art Gallery, at school and in the community. Students looked at and discussed a number of paintings by Alex Colville, investigated Colville’s use of geometry and sketched at locations around Sackville where Colville had set paintings.

The printed guide presents the writing and drawing created by the students in a publication designed as A Teen’s Guide to Alex Colville in Sackville.
