This publication coincides with the exhibition and performance series Portraits of Sound: The Canadian Music Centre, Atlantic Region, 20th Anniversary held at the Owens Art Gallery from 19 October to 4 December 2009.

This celebration included an exhibition and series of performances, presentations and installations by and in celebration of Contemporary Canadian composers and artists. Participants included Ian Crutchley, composer “Music with an Ocean View”; New Music Ensemble, works by Anthony Genge performed by Janet Hammock and Danise Ferguson; “Tango Etudes”, composer Martin Kutnowski, featuring a presentation by the composer; “Pentagram” by Sandy Moore; and others. Organized by the Owens Art Gallery and the CMC, Atlantic Region.

This publication includes a foreword by Shawn Bostick, regional director of CMC Atlantic.
