This poster coincides with the exhibition Passage to Safe Harbour, held at the Owens from 28 July to 17 September 2000.

This exhibition was co-organized by the Owens Art Gallery and the Mount Allison University Archives to coincide with Yorkshire 2000, an international gathering in Sackville of visitors of Yorkshire descent. The exhibition draws on the collections of the University Archives and the Owens Art Gallery related to the arrival and settlement of Yorkshire emigrants to Chignecto and images of the landscape revealed to them on their arrival in this new land. The Archives’ holdings include unique and rich primary documentation related to local families of Yorkshire origin.

The exhibition also included historical and contemporary art- works depicting the local landscape from the Owens Permanent Collection by the artists John Hammond, John Grey, Edward Pulford, Margaret Chipman, Thaddeus Holownia and others. Passage to Safe Harbour was co-curated by Cheryl Ennals, University Archivist, and Gemey Kelly, Owens Art Gallery.
