This publication coincides with the exhibition/symposium Investigations held at the Owens Art Gallery from 7 to 14 January 1974.

This exhibition/symposium involved 4 artists: John Greer, Ian Carr-Harris, and Iain and Ingrid Baxter. Each artist was granted a gallery space, in which the works developed over the course of the project were exhibited in the show or created specifically for the publication.

This publication includes an introduction, an interview between Pierre Théberge and John Greer, Ian Carr-Harris, and Iain and Ingrid Baxter, and some closing words by Pierre Théberge.
