This publication coincides with the exhibition Alex Colville: The History of Mount Allison held at the Owens Art Gallery from 26 April to 15 September 2002.

At the age of 28, Alex Colville researched, designed and executed The History of Mount Allison, a mural done in egg tempera on linen, permanently installed in Tweedie Hall. The preparatory drawings for the mural, which have now been donated to Mount Allison University by the artist, include Colville’s research drawings and notes as well as his sketches and records of early buildings and dress.
