Two hands hold up a softcover book. The cover is purple and yellow, with a grid of landscape paintings in the centre. The paintings have flat, bright colours, and sometimes features an animal.

This publication coincides with the exhibition A journey over the river Styx: the paintings of Rebecca Burke held at the Owens Art Gallery from 22 September to 29 October 2006.

Rebecca Burke’s work has centered on such human issues as the role of women in society, the fragility of our environment and our ecosystems, and the effect which human activity, as symbolized by industrial structures, has had on loss of habitat and the extinction of species.
