Ray Fenwick: Le Moat Juice

About this exhibition

Le Moat Juice was a group of short, inter-related performance works somewhere between experimental comedy and performance art. The pieces that comprise Le Moat Juice focus with an absurd intensity on (mostly failed) attempts to communicate with others, with one’s self and with the divine.

Ray Fenwick is an interdisciplinary artist working with sound, video, typography, painting, and performance. The drive of his practice is, as he puts it, “to give language the floor” through initiating alternative relationships with language and the voice.

Fenwick’s performance in Sackville was part of an Atlantic tour organized by the Owens Art Gallery, and made possible with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

The tour included performances at the Anna Leonowens Gallery, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax NS,; Galerie Sans Nom, Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen, Université de Moncton, Moncton NB; and Grenfell Campus Art Gallery, Memorial University, Corner Brook, NL.
