One Thing Leads to Another
One Thing Leads to Another
This exhibition explores the relationship between reality and representation. Drawn from the Owens’ permanent collection, it presents works that unsettle expectations. Carl Zimmerman’s fictional architectures play with the perceived truth of photographs, while Erik Edson uses a trick of reflection to mimic a radiant sunset. In the work of Robert Houle and Melissa Peter-Paul, porcupine quillwork brings geometric abstraction down to earth. Made using saltwater from Oliver’s Cove, Newfoundland, Karen Stentaford’s tintypes both depict a place and collaborate with its environment, while Nancy Graves’ lithographs translate geologic maps of the moon into expressive patterns.
