No Place, Nowhere
At the centre of this exhibition lies the question of place and no place. Place does not need to be a location—it can be the feeling of belonging or not belonging. How one person sees a place is determined by their experience, but in a rural place, there are those who are satisfied with their place nowhere and those who have no place anywhere. The works included here present depictions of the everyday that invite us to contemplate these realities, which helps create deeper connections to art and ideas of place.
This exhibition was made possible thanks to the generous support of Mount Allison University alumni Heather and Ian Bourne and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
