Against an Open Sky

About this exhibition

Dark objects against the sky, particularly at sunrise and at sunset, are familiar images in artists’ work. Contemporary artists Erik Edson and Edward Burtynsky incorporate different media and ideas than 19th century artist John Hammond, but the final effect of dark objects isolated against the sky is visually similar.

Other artists in the exhibition include Christopher Pratt, Alex Colville, Bruno Bobak and Scott Goudie.
